CDDF Live Webinar: Beating Cancer In Europe – Time to Deliver

The Cancer Drug Development Forum (CDDF) will hold a live webinar on “Beating Cancer in Europe – Time to deliver” on Monday 10 July 2023 at 6 PM (CEST) / 12 PM (EDT).

WEBINAR OUTLINE

On February 2021, the European Commission published the “Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan” to enhance the EU commitment to cancer prevention, treatment and care. It is structured around four key action areas (prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment, improve quality of life) and it is supported by ten flagship initiatives and multiple supporting actions.

Two years after the publication, the CDDF invites Dr Alberto Costa (European Commission, IT) who works closely with European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakidis, to share the perspective of the European Commission with a focus on the Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan’s history, the current status and the plans for the future in relation of the implementation of its recommendations.

Dr Costa’s lecture will be followed by a presentation by Prof. Mark Lawler (Queen’s University Belfast UK, CDDF Board Member) about the Lancet Oncology European Cancer Groundshot Commission on cancer research. This commission, the most comprehensive analysis of cancer research activity in Europe to date, has brought together a wide range of experts, together with detailed new data on cancer research activity across Europe during the past 12 years and has deployed this knowledge to set out an evidence-driven, patient-centred cancer research roadmap for Europe. After the presentations, a 30-minute panel discussion will be moderated by Teodora Kolarova (International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance (INCA), BU).
