European Week Against Cancer: A United Effort to Raise Awareness and Inspire Action
25–31 May 2025
Every year, from 25 to 31 May, Europe comes together to mark the European Week Against Cancer (EWAC) — an initiative led by the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL) that aims to raise awareness around cancer prevention, early detection, research, and support for patients and survivors. This annual campaign provides a crucial platform for health advocates, cancer leagues, civil society, and policymakers to highlight the importance of collective action in the fight against cancer.
The week is structured around daily themes, each spotlighting a key pillar in cancer control:
- 25 May – Primary prevention
- 26 May – Early detection
- 27 May – Access to medicines
- 28 May – Digital health and care
- 29 May – Research
- 30 May – Patients and survivors
- 31 May – World No Tobacco Day
These themes reflect the comprehensive approach needed to tackle cancer — from empowering people to make informed health choices, to advancing research and ensuring equitable access to care across Europe.
As a supporter of this important initiative, CDDF is proud to amplify the message of EWAC across our channels. We believe that raising awareness is a powerful first step toward meaningful change. Whether you’re a policymaker, healthcare provider, researcher, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, there is a role for everyone in this effort.
